it's that idyllic time of year again; the leaves are changing colors making southern indiana even more beautiful than it is in the summer, the air has become cooler allowing for the pleasant integration of cable-knit sweaters into one's wardrobe, halloween gives us the excuse to disregard impending midterm exams and preparations for job interviews and instead partay on kirkwood all weekend dressed as a sailor, and thanksgiving break (emphasis on BREAK) is coming up. i love autumn.

if you're like me, you grew up reading the babysitter's club, sweet valley twins, and the boxcar children, with a little r.l. stine "fear street" thrown in. and my personal hero, nancy drew. but i can honestly say, the bsc's kristy, dawn, mary ann, claudia, stacey, jessi and even mallory have a special place in my heart. so you can imagine my happiness when i saw the following on jen miller's site:

Where Are They Now: The Babysitter's Clubhey, maybe they all define success differently...
Stacy- Gets hooked on coke/ritalin cocktail while attending Vassar and drops out. Marries wealthy man 40 years her senior to finance drug habit. Lives in Long Island and drives a red Miata.
Claudia- Flunks out of RISD after unfortunate incident involving MC Escher replicas made of maccaroni. Becomes bitter and pretentious salesgirl at retro clothing store in St. Mark's place. Lives on Top Ramen to finance collection of vintage tap shoes.
Mallory- Majors in creative writing at Sarah Lawrence. Opens feminist bookstore in Montpelier Vermont, where she lives with her partner Julie and two cats.
Jessie- Auditions for Julliard but doesn't get in. Saves up money and is eventually able to open own dance studio in the basement of her New Haven home. Forces pupils to listen to same story, "the one time I auditioned for Juliard" ad nauseum. Drinks Boones Farm Strawberry Wine between classes.
Dawn- Moves to Berkeley, California to pursue career as aromatherapist. Lives with "life partner" Dan, their five children, and two labrador retrievers. Hobbies include, growing own granola, following the band Phish, and making braided hemp dog collars. No longer entrusted with babysitting neighbor's kids since "the frisbee incident."
Mary Ann- Majors in geography at Mount Holyoke College. Later marries stockbroker with Morgan Stanley, and settles in Darien, CT where they have three children. Enjoys quilting, the Ladies Bridge Club, and light S and M.
Kristy- Goes to Quinnipiac College on a softball scholarship but drops out after two years. Works as Sales Associate at the Home Depot and volunteers at the local animal shelter. Enjoys wearing holiday themed sweatshirts.
Logan Bruno- Majored in theater at Bennington. Moved to West Village immediatley after graduation, and began work as waiter/dancer to finance acting classes. Starred in several "films" of various sorts, rarely speaks to family or Mary-Ann. Has attended rehab at Hazeldon clinic in Minnesota for addiction to painkillers twice. Last seen wearing buttless leather chaps on Macdougal St. on New Year's Eve, 1999. Missing, presumed to be working in porno under the name Long'n Brutal.
